Grand Central Service Update
[21 April 2008]
We would like to apologise for the recent poor reliability of train services which some of you will have experienced over recent weeks. This has been, in the main, a direct result of a series of failures of component parts on our recently refurbished Power Cars.
In order to improve the current position, we have made arrangements to stand down one of our trains for week commencing Sunday 20th April to allow engineers (from the refurbishment company plus staff we have hired in specially) to give not only the Power Cars but also the carriages a thorough “going over” to make them more reliable. This means that we have arranged the use of a temporary, hired in train set of high quality carriages. Though very comfortable, they will not offer all the normal Grand Central facilities, but will allow us to run the full timetable albeit with a small amount of retiming.
Looking forward, we are confident that we shall return our normal trains to full service after next weekend.
