Extensive Refurbishment Work at Hartlepool

Hartlepool Station is undergoing a makeover which will create a modern transport interchange for the town.  Work started in November and is due for completion before the Tall Ships this summer.

Significant improvements for Hartlepool include:-

• The Canopy Refurbishment Project, the existing canopy structure will be removed and replaced with a modern equivalent.

• Installation of a customer information system,  real time service information screens will be provided for the first time and the public address system will be upgraded.

• Increased interchange opportunities, Hartlepool Borough Council are making improvements to road, bus, taxi and pedestrian links to Hartlepool station.

• Improved parking, a new car park will be provided adjacent to the station which will include cycle storage.

• Enhanced security, the CCTV system will be upgraded during the project

• Artwork project, the disused platform will be cleared of vegetation and will host an exhibition of historical railway posters.

While these major improvement works take place the platform length will be temporarily reduced and passengers alighting Grand Central services should take advice from the onboard staff to ensure you leave from the correct part of the train.

Walking routes around the station will change as the project progresses, please ensure you leave sufficient time to get round to the platforms.
